Good afternoon, fellow SASHPers!

In light of yesterday's internet mishap, I must apologize for us not being able to get this nifty Newsletter out to you sooner! I hope you've all since recovered from having no internet and are ready to take on the first exams coming up over the next couple weeks. Check out some interesting events and opportunities, including FREE TICKETS to a Mason Gross performance!

We invite you to join the SASHP for a Welcome Reception at the Zimmerli Museum on Thursday, October 1 at 5:00pm.  Also,  join the SASHP Artists Collective on Friday, October 2 for a meeting at 3:30pm and its first Cinema Night at 7pm at 35 College Ave! This week's Cinema Night will be featuring "Full Metal Jacket".

Staging Public Memory with James Young

JamesYoungIn this slide lecture, Dr. James Young, UMass Amherst, will trace what he calls an "arc of memorial vernacular," from World War I and the Holocaust to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe in Berlin, the National 9/11 Memorial at Ground Zero, and the memorial process in Norway.
