Join President Robert Barchi and leading scholars for the second in a series of symposia. Participants will examine “Transformational Science,” focusing on the changing roles of the research university and the challenges and opportunities presented by these changes. Keynote speakers are the Honorable Rush D. Holt, the chief executive officer of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and former U.S. Representative for New Jersey's 12th congressional district, and Eric Green, the director of the National Human Genome Research Institute at the National Institutes of Health.  The event will also feature a panel discussion with Rutgers' scientists and Transformational Research Presentations by Rutgers faculty. A reception will follow the presentations.

Start this semester right by giving back to your community! Scarlet Day of Service is a day-long event for students to give back to their community by engaging in meaningful service. Scarlet Day of Service is the one of the largest service events of the year at Rutgers University planned by the Rutgers University Programming Association (RUPA) and Rutgers Student Affairs. On this day, students come together as part of the State University of New Jersey to volunteer at different community organizations throughout central New Jersey. This Fall, Scarlet Day of Service will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2016. This event will provide 1000+ students the opportunity to serve New Jersey by cleaning up communities, revitalizing outdoor spaces, working with youth and senior citizens, and more.  Students must register prior to the event to participate.

Students will be traveling to many sites in NJ that can be chosen the day of. Free breakfast, lunch, transportation, equipment, AND t-shirt will be provided. Highland Park Community Food Pantry is partnering with the Highland Park Native Plant Reserve, Stop & Shop, and the Rutgers University Scarlet Day of Service to provide an opportunity for you to donate to help those in our community who need food. Drop off locations are at the Highland Park Stop&Shop and—a unique drive-in collection--at the Highland Park Native Plant Reserve on River Road. The Food Pantry especially needs cereal, hot and cold; shelf-milk (non-refrigerated milk), rice, peanut butter canned fruit, canned fish (tuna, salmon, sardines), canned meat, canned soup and vegetables. The Junior Intern Program is an exciting opportunity for current Rutgers students to be mentored in leadership, program planning, and community building skills. Interested students must submit an application, recommendation, and complete an in-person interview. At the end of the fall semester, 10-15 students will be selected as Junior Interns for the spring semester. During the spring semester, the Junior Interns will work closely with current Senior Interns, gaining knowledge and experience in the programming and marketing of various events for the Asian American Cultural Center. At the end of the academic year, four Junior Interns will be selected to become paid staff Senior Interns, for the following academic year.

CLASS OF 2018 JUNIORS – Are you interested in public policy, American politics or government? APPLY NOW for the 2018 Eagleton Institute of Politics Undergraduate Associates Program.  Application and recommendation letter deadline is October 20, 2016.  This interdisciplinary certificate program is open to junior undergraduate students from ALL Rutgers schools, departments and campuses – including transfer and international students. Associates learn about real-world politics, public policy and government from experienced practitioners. Students selected for the program take a course at the Eagleton Institute during the second semester of their junior year and each semester of their senior year, as well and complete an internship in government or politics during the summer or fall of senior year.

Rutgers University Press is seeking an editorial intern for the fall semester for their Clinical Health and Medicine list. This internship is an opportunity for students with a serious interest in publishing or health sciences to gain a worthwhile educational experience in scholarly publishing. The position involves reading, editing, formatting academic and clinical medical books, facilitating the peer review process, handling contracts, and writing/editing endorsements for our published books. University Honors at UC Riverside is proud to announce open submissions for Audeamus, the National Multidisciplinary Honors Journal.  To be eligible to submit, students are required to be CURRENT undergraduates enrolled (full-time or part-time) at a two-year or four-year college or institution of higher education. Students who will graduate from an eligible institution are eligible to apply for the 2016-2017 journal if they have, for example, a senior thesis paper/project they completed upon graduation and would like to submit this piece to the journal.
