In this current political climate plagued by anger, hate, and incomprehensible rhetoric, it seems that the concept of a respectful exchange of ideas is no longer an option. #ADULTING involves having conversations more often than debates in order to better understand opposing opinions rather than insisting that there is one way to be right.

To lead the conversation we have invited Alexander Heffner, the host of the PBS show “The Open Mind” and a true young pioneer for the lost art of civil discourse. “The Open Mind,” which has been on the air since 1956, is an effort to ‘interrogate ideas’ and he brings his passion for open dialogues on various topics to the stage here at Rutgers. Alexander discusses the involvement of millennials in these political conversations, public media, and their role in civil discourse in America.

Get involved in this conversation while learning a bit more about how to adult your way through the rest of this election.
