Events
At this event, the Committee will present the results of its exploration into early Rutgers history, including how the university benefited, either directly or indirectly, from enslaved people owned by our early founders and benefactors, as well as how it came to possess and profit from land that once belonged to Native American tribes. The committee's work will be published by the Rutgers University Press in a book entitled Scarlet and Black: Slavery and Dispossession in Rutgers History. The first 500 guests will receive a complimentary copy of the book. Speakers: Professor Deborah Gray White, Dr. Richard L. Edwards.
