Incoming Transfer Students from other Institutions
Admission to the School of Arts and Sciences Honors Program is recommended for first and second year students. Transfer students entering as juniors are strongly encouraged to pursue Departmental Honors within the major department. Transfer students who wish to apply for admission to the School of Arts and Sciences Honors Program must first be admitted to Rutgers School of Arts and Sciences.
To be considered for admission for the SAS Honors Program, transfer students must have:
- A maximum of 45 transfer credits
- At least 75 credits to complete for graduation
- A cumulative GPA of at least 3.700 averaged from all sending institutions.
- Must apply by the Undergraduate Admissions Application Due Date.
Transfer students who have been admitted to Rutgers School of Arts and Sciences and who meet these guidelines may apply for admission. A complete application will include:
- Application form
- Letter of Interest
- College transcript(s) including final semester grades
- Resume
- One letter of recommendation from a faculty member
- An essay response of at least 500 words (essay question is listed on Application Form)

Transfer Students from other units at Rutgers University
To be considered for admission to the SAS Honors Program, school-to-school transfer students must first be admitted to the School of Arts and Sciences. Students with a cumulative GPA of 3.700 may apply to the SAS Honors Program.
