What attracted you to Rutgers University and the Honors/Scholars Program?
The diversity, the honors dorm, the FIG classes.

Why did you choose your major and minor?
I was the most interested in those two topics. And I wanted something that was immediately practical for my major.

Tell us a little bit about what you're doing now. What was your first job after Rutgers? Where do you live?
I live in Suburban Philadelphia. I'm a High School Math Teacher in Philadelphia. I went to graduate school straight out of college, and then my first "real" job was at DuPont doing ergonomics. I got laid off 4 months in due to the recession, and was lucky to be able to get part-time work Personal Training while I was looking for my next job. I got a job at Drexel doing community health, fitness, and wellness. I got my teacher certification from Drexel by using tuition remission.

What has been your greatest professional and/or personal accomplishment since you graduated Rutgers?
Marrying my wife, Aviva, who I met in my senior year at a leadership conference.

Was there a class and/or experience at Rutgers that led you to pursuing your current career?
I taught a FIG in my Senior year. It was my first teaching experience.

What three words describe your experience at Rutgers and the Honors/Scholars Program?
Fun. Meaningful. Memorable.

How has your Rutgers and Honors education benefited you in your post-Rutgers life?
I always keep my eye out for new opportunities and seek them out. I'm in a two-year fellowship at Stanford University because I read an e-mail about it and decided to take the next steps.

What advice do you have for our current SAS Honors Program students?
Take at least one course each year that sounds incredibly interesting. Don't wait until your last semester to explore interesting electives or honors seminars, take them throughout your time in college. You never regret taking a course you really love, and it could even change the course of your life!
