Will Count Towards the minor in Education as a Social Science

Using education as a lens, students will be introduced to the philosophical, historical, political and cultural foundations of contemporary Chinese society. The course will be organized around ten themes. Students will work in groups to choose one of the themes of the course and support each other in developing their individual final projects throughout the semester around this theme. Groups will also work with the instructor to create a multimedia presentation on their selected theme.

One component of the course will be collaborative learning with Chinese students at universities in China. Students in the course will be connected with Chinese counterparts. Rutgers students will serve as resources for the Chinese students who will be learning about education and society in the US. Chinese students will serve as a resource for the students in this class to learn about education and society in China and will assist them in developing their final project.
