Sushuptha BalakrishnaSAS Honors Program student Sushuptha Balakrishna '19 was among only a handful of outstanding premedical students who were offered admission to the competitive BA/MD Program with Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick.  The BA/MD Program with Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick is open to students on any campus of Rutgers University.  Accepted students attend the New Brunswick campus to earn the bachelor's and medical degree in a seven or eight-year program.

She shares: "I am a rising junior majoring in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, and minoring in Women's and Gender studies. On campus, I am part of Model United Nations, RU UNICEF, and Habitat for Humanity. I also dance hip hop under the Rutgers Performing Dance Company and part of a service sorority called Omega Phi Alpha. Off campus, I lead a non-profit organization that focuses on raising money for international NGOS that help promote education in rural areas. I want to pursue my career in surgical oncology, and eventually work for doctors without borders. My utmost priority is to be able to interact, understand, and help those in need. I diversify my activities and interests in order to meet new people from all different backgrounds and learn knowledge that can only be gained outside of science. My best advice is to step outside your comfort zone and challenge yourself in anything you invest in."

Congratulations to Sushuptha on this achievement!
