Honors Ambassadors play an integral role in the recruitment of new high-achieving students! They are current students who are enthusiastic about sharing their college experience. Ambassadors serve in a volunteer leadership capacity to help prospective students and their families learn more about both Rutgers University and Honors at Rutgers. Honors Ambassadors participate actively in new student recruitment events, including Scholars Days, Open House, and other information sessions. They also help to promote Honors through social media and other digital/online avenues, as needed.
Ambassadors attend training in the Spring semester to prepare for participation in Honors recruitment events. Through training and service, Ambassadors develop valuable skills such as leadership, teamwork, public speaking, communication, social media branding/management, and interpersonal skills. They serve as student leaders and role models, and are able to form connections with fellow Ambassadors, faculty and staff. Perhaps most importantly, they help to recruit the next class of students at Rutgers, and build a strong Honors community!
APPLICATIONS FOR SPRING 2025 AMBASSADORS ARE NOW OPEN!
Honors Ambassador Testimonies:
"When I was looking at colleges while in high school, I came to Scholars Day and was incredibly impressed by the student ambassadors. Now, I get to be a part of that: helping high school seniors decide where to spend the next four years by introducing them to the myriad opportunities afforded to SASHP students."
"Something I've loved about serving as a SASHP Ambassador is when some of the Ambassadors in the grades below me have come up to me and shared that I talked to them when they were potential freshmen attending Scholars' Days. It is interesting to see how it all comes full-circle!"
"I love being an Honors Ambassador because I love telling incoming students about how I fell in love with Rutgers -- how the campus, the programs, the football, and the abounding opportunities shifted my mindset from wanting to transfer out of Rutgers to now representing our university at events such as these. "
"Being an honors ambassador for the 3rd year now, I still love meeting all of the incoming students and hopefully inspiring them as they start their college careers. The opportunity to share my knowledge and love of this university has been an amazing experience that I’m so lucky to be a part of."
"Participating as an Honors Ambassador has allowed me to not only help incoming students make one of the most important decisions of their lives thus far, but it has also allowed me to truly appreciate all of the opportunities I was given when I decided to become a part of SASHP. "
