Professor Thu D. Nguyen, is Dean of Mathematical and Physical Sciences. His research interests include sustainable computing, distributed and parallel computer systems, operating systems, information retrieval, and computer science education. Several years ago, he collaborated with Professor Bianchini to build the Rutgers Parasol green datacenter, which is partially powered by solar energy. Much of his recent research has been studying methods for managing green datacenters (similar to Parasol) to reduce their power/energy consumption and their emission footprints. He is also currently studying how to ease the management of personal data that is widely distributed across multiple cloud services and personal devices. His industry experience includes working as a Member of Technical Staff at AT&T Bell Laboratories and Director of Web Crawling at Ask.com.
